This magnificent park is Zimbabwe’s largest covering approximately 5,660 square miles and lies only an hour south of Victoria Falls. Hwange is a major hot spot for wildlife viewing so you will be sure to leave with a grin and memories to last a lifetime.

It is a top location for viewing four of the Big Five, although rhino are present, sightings are rare. The park is home to over 100 mammal species and almost 400 bird species, making it perfect for our bird lovers too. Not to mention the largest surviving populations of African wild dogs reside here.

Hwange National Park is especially known for its waterholes. A waterhole is the perfect spot for many elephants to gather, especially during the dry season. The waterholes make for concentrated wildlife viewing in season, from June/July through October. The park houses a variety of ecosystems from desert sands to sparse woodland and grasslands, bordered by rocky outcrops. Some of the activities to enjoy during your stay at the park include, but are not limited to: game drives, walking safaris, horseback safaris, star gazing, and visiting viewing platforms and hides.

Those interested in bird watching, photography and new born animals - a visit during the rainy season, or secret season as we like to call it here, would be ideal. From November to April the bush is green and lush, and herds are calving, which makes for sights unique to this time of year. This is also when migratory birds return from their lengthy journeys to Europe and Northern Africa.
